Have you ever walked through the garden of your soul
for the simple pleasure of self-illumination
Have you allowed yourself to notice each and every
growing thing that makes you whom you are
Each has meaning and has contributed to your life,
thereby influencing your soul's growth
The flowers might be the love you've shared,
and the trees might symbolize the roots
that help to stabilize your existence
Moss and ivy around the trees
are the greening influences that
keep us interested in our own growing
Even the weeds have their significance,
for they are the neglected or undeveloped
parts of our heart and soul
They represent the life lessons
we have not yet learned or dealt with
Cool misting fountains give us rest and peace
and a place of serenity in times of turmoil or strife
Your own garden might be laid out in neat patterns,
or it might appear to be a tangled wilderness
It might be a combination of both
Whichever it happens to be,
know that you and you alone
are responsible for its growth and beauty
So when you take a walk through
the garden of your soul
look closely and see which parts call to you
for they are the areas that might need care
And only you can cultivate and nurture
the garden of your soul
toward its full potential and growth
